Bay Lake Tower At
Disney’s Contemporary Resort
Bay Lake Tower is a 15-story, “C-shaped” resort. It has 281 units and is the Magic Kingdom’s closest accommodation. Guests can take a short ten-minute walk and be at the park, giving Bay Lake Tower one of the most desirable locations of any DVC resort. The resort opened August 4, 2009 and is connected to the Contemporary Resort via a covered, open-air bridge on the 5th floor (4th floor of Contemporary). Bay Lake Tower is located where the North Garden Wing of the Contemporary was until demolition in 2007. The resort was the first DVC Villa with access to the monorail transport.
Room Descriptions
Studios
Studios are one-room units that accommodate up to four people. The sleeping area of the room has a single queen bed and a double-size sleeper sofa. The kitchenette area is in a separate room--kind of a mini kitchen. This is a unique arrangement, as most Studios (at other DVC locations) have the kitchenette on one wall as you enter the room. This dedicated kitchenette has a sink, a small refrigerator, a microwave, a coffee maker, and a pull-out pantry. The bathroom has a single sink and a combination tub and shower. Studio rooms at this resort are smaller than most DVC Studios, at 339 square feet.
One-Bedroom Villas
One-Bedroom are two-room units that sleep up to five people. The master bedroom has a king-size bed in a separate room. In the living room, there is a queen-size sleeper sofa and a sleeper chair. There is a fully equipped kitchen as well as a washer and dryer. There are two bathrooms. The master has a walk-in shower and a whirlpool tub. There is a shower/tub combination in the other bathroom. Other than Animal Kingdom Villas-Kidani, these are the only One-Bedroom with two bathrooms at Walt Disney World. One-Bedroom units are approximately 803 square feet.
Two-Bedroom Villas
Two-Bedrooms are three-room units and sleep up to nine people. Two-Bedroom units at Bay Lake Tower are either lock-off units (rooms made up by a connecting Studio and One-Bedroom unit) or dedicated units (rooms built for only Two-Bedroom reservations).
The Lock-off units have a master bedroom with a king-size bed, a second bedroom with a queen-size bed, and a queen-size sleeper sofa. In addition, there is a double-size sleeper sofa and a sleeper chair in the living room. There are three bathrooms, two with a combination tub and shower, and a walk-in shower and whirlpool tub in the master.
The dedicated units are similar, except in the second bedroom, there are two queen beds instead of a queen bed and sleeper sofa. In addition, the dedicated room will only have one entrance to the villa, whereas the lock-off unit will have two separate entrances. There are three bathrooms in the dedicated units. Two with a combination tub and shower, and the master has a walk-in shower and whirlpool tub.
Grand Villas (3 Bedroom)
Grand Villas are three-Bedroom units that sleep up to twelve people and are 2,044 square feet in size. These villas are the smallest Grand Villas of any DVC resort. The accommodations have one master bedroom with a king-size bed and a whirlpool tub and shower in the bathroom. Upstairs, there are two more bedrooms, with two queen-size beds in each room. Each of these rooms has a bathroom with a tub/shower combination in each. There is a double-sized sleeper sofa in the loft area between the two bedrooms. In addition, there is a queen-size sleeper sofa in the villa’s living room and a fourth bathroom with a shower/tub combination. There is a full-sized kitchen and a separate dining area. These units are two-story and are on floors 15-16 of the resort.
