Copper Creek Villas and Cabins opened on July 17, 2017, at Wilderness Lodge. Unlike its older DVC resort sister, Boulder Ridge, the Copper Creek Villas are located right inside the massive Wilderness Lodge building. The hotel rooms were refurbished into DVC Deluxe Studios and One, Two, and Three-Bedroom villas. Also, DVC added 26 waterfront Cabins along Bay Lake.

Guests will find that the DVC point/night schedule is very similar to the stand-alone Boulder Ridge resort located at Wilderness Lodge. There is a comparison in this chapter. Unlike Animal Kingdom Jambo House and Kidani Village, which are next door to each other but share home resort privileges, Boulder Ridge and Copper Creek are independent DVC Resorts. Owners at either resort cannot use their points at the other resort until the seven-month window opens.

Copper Creek is located near the Magic Kingdom but not on the Monorail Loop. Guests can take a ten-minute boat ride to the park. Copper Creek has 184 rooms, and the contract ends on January 31, 2068. The resort is actively being sold at this time and is almost completely sold out.

Room Descriptions

Studios

Studios are one-room units that accommodate up to four people. Copper Creek Villa has 78 of these. The units are divided into rooms with only a walk-in shower or rooms with only a shower/tub combination in the bathroom. There are 41 that have a walk-in shower and 37 that have a shower/tub combination. The sleeping area of the unit has a single queen bed and a queen-size sleeper sofa. (Note: there are eight alternative Studios included in this room count with a separate living/sleeping area. See details later in this chapter). The kitchenette has a microwave, sink, and small refrigerator. The bathroom has a single sink. Studio rooms are 338 square feet.

One-Bedroom Villas

One-Bedroom Villas are two-room units that sleep up to four people. There are 56 of these units. The master bedroom has a king-size bed in a separate room. In the living room, there is a queen-size sleeper sofa. There is a fully equipped kitchen and a washer and dryer. The unit has one bathroom with a walk-in shower and a whirlpool bathtub. One-Bedroom Villas are approximately 675 square feet.

Two-Bedroom Villas

Two-Bedrooms Villas are three-room units that sleep up to eight people. Two-Bedroom units at Copper Creek are either lock-off units (made up of connecting Studios and One-Bedroom units) or dedicated units. There are 36 lock-off units and 56 dedicated units.

The Lock-off units have a master bedroom with a king-size bed, a second bedroom with a queen-size bed, and a queen-size sleeper sofa. There is a queen-size sleeper sofa in the living room. Seven of the lock-off units are made up of an alternative studio discussed later in this chapter. Most villas are 1,051 square feet, but the lock-offs with alternative Studios will be about 125 feet larger. Each unit will have two bathrooms. The master has a walk-in shower and whirlpool tub, while the other bathroom will have a shower/tub combination or a walk-in shower based on the room type you reserve.

The Dedicated Two-Bedroom Villa has two queen beds instead of a queen bed and sleeper sofa in the second bedroom. The dedicated unit will only have one entrance to the villa, whereas the lock-off will have two separate entrances. There are two bathrooms in the dedicated units. One bedroom has a shower, and the master bedroom has a walk-in shower and a whirlpool tub. Both unit types have a fully equipped kitchen and washer and dryer.

Cabins

Cabins can sleep up to eight people and are 1,213 square feet in size. There are 26 stand-alone cabins. Each unit has one master bedroom with a whirlpool tub and a shower in a dedicated bathroom. There is a single queen-size bed and a 29” x 67” pull-down bed in the second bedroom, and a shower only in the bathroom. In the living area, there is a queen-size sleeper sofa and a sleeper chair. The cabin has a full-sized kitchen and a separate dining area. Located on Bay Lake’s waterfront, the cabins have a built-in hot tub with a wrap-around screen porch.

Grand Villas (3 Bedroom)

Grand Villas are 3 Bedroom units that sleep up to twelve people and are 2,237 square feet in size. Each villa has one master bedroom with a whirlpool tub and a shower in a dedicated bathroom. There are two more bedrooms with two queen-size beds in each room. Each of these rooms has its own bathroom with a shower only. In the living area, there is a queen-size sleeper sofa. There is a full-size kitchen and a separate dining area. These units are single-story. There are only four Grand Villas, located on floors 2-5 of the resort.

Villa Views/Types/Locations

Copper Creek accommodations are only distinguished by whether the bathroom has a walk-in shower or a combination shower/tub. These choices are only available for Deluxe Studios and Two-Bedroom Lock-offs. For One-Bedroom Villas and Dedicated Two-Bedroom Villas, there are no bathroom choices. The cabins are located near the waterfront of Bay Lake.
