Transferring Points Between Members

Disney allows DVC members to transfer all or part of their vacation points to another member. Transfer between members is different than renting points between members. A transfer is an actual movement of points into the new owner's account. The new owner is in complete control of the points after the transfer and can make reservations without the original owner's aid. In a point rental, there is an agreement between parties, so the initial member must complete the reservations from his account.

Transferring points is limited to one transaction per use year, while members can have multiple rental transactions. Transfers are made by contacting member services to move the points into another member's account. Members cannot be compensated for the points being transferred. This rule is usually not enforced by DVC. If you have a financial issue with the transfer, don't expect DVC to get involved. Before you get into any transfer transaction, make sure you've done your due diligence and make sure you feel good about the transaction.

Transferring Points Retail Original Characteristics

Points that are transferred maintain their original ownership characteristics. This includes home resort priority and use year.

A home resort of Polynesian will only have priority booking at eleven months at Polynesian even if the points are transferred to you and you own a different home resort. If you want to use the transferred points to book a reservation at the eleven-month window, make sure the points transferred to you have the same home resort. If you have points from another resort assigned to you, the member would not be able to combine the points to make a reservation until the seven-month window opened.

The use year of the vacation points will still be the same as it was before the transfer. The points will expire at the end of the use year unless the new owner banks them.

Transferring Rules

• Be current on financial commitments. Both members must be current on any payments owed to DVC, including annual dues, loans, or any other funds due. The annual dues payment is the member's responsibility who is transferring the points.

• Members can only have one transfer, in or out, per membership per year. If a member transfers points to you, you can accept no more transfers in that use year. If you have multiple contracts and have different use years (different membership numbers), each contract can have one transfer.

• Transferred points expire at the end of the year unless the new owner banks them. Once deposited, the points cannot be unbanked.

• The transferred points cannot be points that were banked or borrowed.

Using Transferred Points

The owner will control the points after a transfer; however, the new points may or may not be visible in the member's dashboard. If the points are an exact home resort/use year match with an existing contract, the owner will see the points. The points will be in the account but may not be visible to the new owner. When ready to use the vacation points, the new owner will contact member services to book the reservation.
