Animal Kingdom Lodge-Jambo House
Studios—Members will have considerable difficulty booking Value and Kilimanjaro Club reservations within the 11-month window, even when this resort is their designated home resort. These villas consistently rank among the most difficult to secure across the entire DVC system. At 11 months, both DVC and the DVC Field Guide will show availability for about six days, but the first day is missing and must be available to reserve when the 11-month window opens. You will most likely need to use the controversial “walk” technique to obtain the reservation. That means booking any available dates you can before the target month, then gradually moving them closer together or shifting them day by day as cancellations occur. For Resort View and Savanna View units, historical booking patterns generally show availability roughly six to seven days per week, with the notable exception of February 14–20, when demand spikes sharply for President’s Day.
1 Bedroom- With the exception of Value and Kilimanjaro Club-level villas, 1-Bedroom accommodations are available for all weeks at the 7-month mark, except for February 14–20, when demand rises for Presidents’ Day weekend.
2-Bedroom-All 2‑bedroom villas at Jambo House are lock‑offs, so availability will generally mirror the reservation patterns of the studio units that comprise each villa. Value and Kilimanjaro Club villas are especially hard to secure and are often unavailable even within the 11‑month booking window (see studios above). Standard Resort rooms and Savanna View rooms, however, are commonly available at the 11‑month mark. These villas typically show availability about 6–7 days per week, with the notable exception of President’s Day Weekend, when inventory is much tighter.
Grand Villa: Only 6 of these units show complete availability at the 11-month reservation window, and only a 6–7 rating across all weeks at the 7-month mark.
Animal Kingdom Lodge-Kidani Village
Studios-Resort view (Parking lot and Pool) Studios will be more difficult to book within the 7-month window than the savanna views. There are almost twice as many savanna-view rooms as resort-view studios, and savanna rooms require more points/night.
1 Bedroom- Both of these room-view types should be available to book during both the 11-month and the 7-month reservation windows. Kidani 1‑Bedrooms include two full bathrooms, whereas Jambo House one‑bedroom units offer only a single bathroom. If you’re considering booking a one‑bedroom, that difference in bathroom count may influence your choice.
2 Bedroom- Lock-offs are usually harder to reserve than the dedicated 2‑Bedroom system‑wide. At Kidani, both two-bedroom units should be available by the 7‑month mark, except during Presidents’ Week. Note that Kidani 2‑Bedrooms have three bathrooms, compared with two bathrooms in the Jambo House units.
Grand Villa- Savanna View units will be available in the 11‑month window and, most likely, in the 7‑month window as well. However, there are only two Resort View Grand Villas at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, and these are extremely hard to book at the 11‑month mark. The DVC website often displays six days of availability, but the missing day is the firstday — without that day, you cannot book the entire week. Resort views are more in demand because they require fewer points than the savanna view villas.
Bay Lake Tower
All rooms/villas at Bay Lake Tower should be available for Home Resort booking at the 11-month window. When the 7-month window opens, resort-view rooms (formerly called standard view) will often be harder to book.
Studios-Resort Studios are the most in-demand across all weeks, so availability is extremely limited at 7 months. There are only 24 of these rooms. At the 7‑month mark, historically, each week shows only two days available. Preferred and Theme Park views are more readily available, with the only notable exception being President’s Day weekend.
1 Bedroom- There are more of these rooms with vacancy than studios, but the resort view inventory is somewhat limited when the 7-month booking window opens. President’s Day weekend demand is higher than usual for resort view accommodations. Owners should book these rooms as soon as they become available to avoid being shut out.
2 Bedroom-Historically, for Resort-view lock-offs and resort-view dedicated units, the 7-month window shows limited availability for all of the weeks listed above. The other views—preferred (lake) and theme park—generally show good availability throughout the period, except during Presidents’ Week, when rooms become scarce.
Grand Villa: Availability is good for most of these weeks. The theme park view has slightly more availability than the preferred (Lake) view at 7-months.
Beach Club
All rooms and villas at Beach Club should be available for Home Resort booking at the full 11-month window. However, once the 7-month window opens, studio and two-bedroom units typically become much more difficult to secure.
Studios-Studios are very hard to get at Beach Club unless it is your Home Resort. Members will find little difficulty at 11-month but rarely are studios available for a full week at 7-month.
1 Bedroom- 1‑bedroom villas are available at the 11‑month booking window and, in most cases, can also be reserved for many dates at the 7‑month window. These accommodations are significantly more available than studios, though they require about twice as many points.
2 Bedroom- There are noticeable differences in availability among the 2‑bedroom types at Beach Club. Lock‑offs (a combination of a Deluxe Studio and a 1‑Bedroom Villa) are difficult to secure at the 7‑month mark, while the dedicated 2‑bedroom units are more likely to show open dates during that same window.
Boardwalk
All rooms and villas at Boardwalk should be available for Home Resort booking at the 11-month window.
Studios-Resort and Boardwalk View studios are very difficult to secure for a full week when the 7‑month booking window opens. The third type of room view is the Garden/Pool rooms, but many of those are already partially booked by the 7‑month mark, so it’s unlikely you’ll find an entire week available without some flexibility in dates or room preferences.
1 Bedroom- The 1-bedroom view rooms are the most available when the 7-month window opens, but securing a full week at that point can be hit or miss. If you can’t get the exact dates you need right away, waiting-listing the dates you’re missing can be a practical option, since there are many of these units, and cancellations do occur.
2 Bedroom- All 2-bedroom units at BoardWalk are lock-offs (a studio combined with a 1‑bedroom). In practice, these lock-offs generally follow the same booking patterns as the studios, so availability tends to mirror studio demand. The resort view and BoardWalk view villas will be the most difficult to secure.
Grand Villa- These villas are likely to be available at the 11-month booking window, but securing a full week at the 7-month window may be more difficult. This is especially true around the Presidents’ Day holiday, when demand tends to be higher.
Boulder Ridge
All rooms and villas at Beach Club should be available for Home Resort booking at the full 11-month window. However, once the 7-month window opens, studio and two-bedroom units typically become much more difficult to secure.
Studios- Members will find little difficulty securing a reservation at 11 months out, but studios for a full week are rarely available at 7 months. This may require joining a waitlist to obtain the exact dates you want.
1 Bedroom- 1‑bedroom villas are available at the 11‑month booking window and, in most cases, show full availability even at 7 months. These accommodations are significantly more available than studios, though they require about twice as many points.
2 Bedroom- Availability varies by 2‑bedroom type. Lock‑offs (Deluxe Studio + 1‑Bedroom) are generally harder to secure at the 7‑month mark, while dedicated 2‑bedrooms are more often available (even full weeks) during the same booking window.
Cabins at Fort Wilderness
The cabins at Fort Wilderness have been open for only a short time. In addition, fewer than 20% of the units are currently available, so pinpointing exact availability may be tricky. So far the pattern is clear: cabins have shown up at both the 11-month and 7-month booking windows. My guess is there are relatively few Home Resort owners at this early stage, which makes snagging a cabin more difficult once the 7-month window opens to everyone. I suspect that as soon as that 7-month window becomes available, these units will be booked quickly. If you are not a cabin owner, plan to make your reservation right when the 7-month window opens.
Copper Creek
All rooms and villas at Copper Creek should be available for Home Resort booking at the 11-month window.
Studios- Studios are designated by shower type—either a bathtub or a walk-in shower. Both of these types of units show hard-to-get full weeks at the 7-month mark. Availability is particularly scarce around Presidents’ Day, when demand spikes and reservations are especially difficult to secure.
1 Bedroom- 1‑bedroom view rooms are generally easiest to find about seven months in advance, though securing a full week can still be hit or miss. If you can’t lock in your preferred dates, join the waitlist — plenty of units exist, and cancellations occur frequently, so you often have a good chance of getting what you want.
2 Bedroom- There is a significant difference in 2‑bedroom availability depending on the room configuration. 2‑bedroom lock‑offs (a connected studio plus 1‑bedroom) tend to have the least availability, while dedicated 2‑bedrooms are most likely to show openings — especially if you’re flexible and searching for a full week. There is some tightness of availability during Presidents’ Week.
Grand Villa- These villas are likely to be available at the 11-month booking window and also at the 7-month window with some flexibility.
Cabins- Cabins have some of the highest per-night rates and accommodate only 8 people. These units will be available at the 7-month window and will likely be available later.
Grand Floridian
All rooms and villas at Grand Floridian should be available for Home Resort booking at the 11-month window.
Studios- There are 2 kinds of Studios at the Grand Floridian. The original Deluxe Studios are located in the main Grand Floridian building, and the newer studios were converted from the Big Pine Key Building a few years ago. The deluxe studios will have limited avavailabilityat the 7-month window. The resort studios will depend on the view. Resort view will be more difficult to book for a full week at 7 months, while the preferred (lake) and Theme Park views should be available.
1 Bedroom- 1‑bedroom view rooms should be available at the 7-month window for most weeks.
There is some availability tightness during Presidents’ Week.
Grand Villa- These villas are most likely to be available at the 11‑month booking window, with less vacancy remaining by the 7‑month window. At 7 months, leverage the flexibility in your dates and the waitlist to secure the week you want. These units are the largest on the DVC property, each offering approximately 2,800 square feet.
Old Key West
All rooms and villas at Old Key West should be available for Home Resort booking at the 11-month window, except for the Grand Villa near the Hospitality House. Old Key West designated its units by their proximity to the Hospitality House, and, compared with other unit types, there are far fewer of these units available.
Studios- Studios near the Hospitality House are usually booked, at least partially, by owners at 11 months and are not available in the 7-month window. On the other hand, it is likely that at the 7-month window, the Studios not close to the Hospitality House will be available.
1 Bedroom- Both 1‑bedroom unit types will be available at the 11‑month booking window and most likely at the 7‑month window as well. If you want a room near Hospitality House, you may need to be flexible with your travel dates or consider using the waitlist feature to increase your chances.
2 Bedroom- There are three different 2-bedroom booking types at Old Key West, each following a distinct availability pattern. The most difficult to secure are the 2-bedroom lock-offs located near the Hospitality House; their availability closely mirrors that of studios and they tend to be very limited at the 7-month booking window. 2-bedroom lock-offs that are not near the Hospitality House typically appear in the 11- and 7-month windows The third type, true 2-bedroom dedicated units, are plentiful (231 units) and are often available even at the 5-month window for some weeks.
Grand Villa- The Grand Villas located near the Hospitality House are among the most difficult Grand Villas to book. There are only two of them, and although the DVC website often shows six days available per week, that availability can be misleading because the first day of the vacation is usually missing. At 11 months, both DVC and the DVC Field Guide will typically display availability for about six days, but the crucial first day is absent and must become available to reserve when the 11‑month window actually opens. To secure one of these units, you will most likely need to use the controversial “walk” technique: book any available dates you can before the target month, then gradually move those dates closer together or shift them one day at a time as cancellations occur. The other 3-bedroom units should be available in 7 months, but you may need to be flexible or use the waitlist to secure all the days you need.
Polynesian
All rooms and villas at Polynesian should be available for Home Resort booking at the 11-month window. The addition of the Isand Tower a short time ago may impact availability patterns for the original deluxe studios. I’ll break down availablity for the orginal Polynesian and the new Island Tower.
Studios- The original studios have good availablity for all weeks with some tightning around President’s day. There are a lot of these rooms so there may be a good chance that you could get a waitlist.
Bungalow- The Bungalow units will be available to book at both the 11- and 7-month windows. In fact, these units are the highest-priced accommodations in DVC and sleep only up to eight guests. As the table shows, many weeks still have availability even as little as five or three weeks before your reservation.
Island Tower
Island Tower opened in December 2024, so availability information is still somewhat sketchy. The following lists the observed booking patterns for its first year of operation. Whether future years will follow the same booking trends remains to be seen.
Duo Studios- Units should be available at 11 months, but will be at least partially filled when the 7-month window opens. Last year we saw a lot of tightening in the resort and preferred view availability during Presidents’ Day week.
1 Bedroom- 1‑bedroom view rooms should be available at the 7-month window for most weeks.
Riviera
All rooms and villas at Riviera can be booked as Home Resorts at the 11-month window.
Tower Studios: The 24 two-person studios are typically available at the 11-month booking window but rarely at the 7-month window. Home resort members should act quickly to secure these studios at the 11-month mark, as they tend to fill up fast. If you're trying to book 7 months in advance, you may need to waitlist.
Studios: Preferred Studios have the highest likelihood of securing a full week during the 7-month booking period for non-members. While Resort View studios may encounter some difficulty and could require waitlisting, they are an excellent option. Resort View studios not only require fewer points per night but also offer superior views, particularly from higher floors, compared to Preferred Studios.
1 Bedroom- 1‑bedroom view rooms should be available at the 7-month window for most of these weeks.
2 Bedroom- Historically, resort views are more difficult to secure than preferred views, and lock-off units are harder to obtain than dedicated units. If you're trying to book a villa at the 7-month mark, your best chance will be with preferred-view units, whether dedicated or lock-off. Resort views are more challenging to secure and will likely require waitlisting.
Grand Villa- Grand Villas should be available at 7 months.
Saratoga Springs
Most room types at Saratoga Springs should be available for full-week bookings during the 11-month, 7-month, and even 5-month periods from your reservation date. Members at Saratoga Springs tend to switch to other resorts when possible, which increases availability for non-members at the seven-month mark and during many five-month periods. This is a large resort.
Studios- All studios should be available during the 11- and 7-month windows. 5-month windows are also open for most days, except for the weeks starting from President’s Day onward.
1 Bedroom- 1-bedroom rooms should be available even as late as 3-5 months before your reservation
2 Bedroom- 2-bedroom villas at Saratoga Springs are a reliable choice, as they are often available when other resorts are fully booked within the 7-month window. This resort, favored by many owners, offers the highest availability of all (DVC) resorts at Walt Disney World. Members looking to secure a reservation will find that Saratoga Springs is typically an excellent option when their preferred resort is unavailable.
Grand Villa- Grand Villas should be available for a full week at 7 months and for 5 months with some tightening at President’s Day.
