Overall Summary
Disney's Aulani Resort & Spa offers a unique availability profile within Disney Vacation Club. While home resort owners enjoy excellent booking opportunities at the 11-month window, availability becomes much more competitive once reservations open to all members at 7 months, particularly during the busy summer travel season. Room view plays a significant role in booking success. Island Garden View and Ocean View accommodations generally offer the strongest availability because of their larger inventories, while Standard View and Poolside Garden View categories become considerably more difficult due to their limited supply. Members without home resort priority will generally have the greatest success targeting the larger inventory view categories.
Hotel Rooms
The Standard Hotel Rooms are among the most difficult accommodations to reserve at Aulani. With only eight rooms, availability is extremely limited once the seven-month booking window opens. Home resort owners have the best opportunity to reserve these rooms, while members booking at seven months should expect availability to disappear quickly.
Deluxe Studios
Deluxe Studio availability varies considerably by view. Ocean View and Island Garden View Studios, with more than 90 rooms each, consistently provide the strongest availability and remain realistic booking options at seven months. Poolside Garden View Studios are somewhat more competitive because of their smaller inventory, while Standard View Studios, with only 18 rooms, are among the most difficult studios to reserve during the summer.
1-Bedroom Villas
One-Bedroom Villas generally offer good availability, although view category again makes a significant difference. Ocean View and Island Garden View Villas remain the easiest accommodations to reserve thanks to their larger inventories. Poolside Garden View villas become more competitive, while the 18 Standard View Villas are considerably harder to obtain. Members booking at seven months will typically have the best success by selecting an Ocean View or Island Garden View villa.
2-Bedroom Villas
Two-Bedroom Villas follow a similar pattern. Ocean View and Island Garden View accommodations consistently provide the strongest booking opportunities, while the Standard View and Poolside Garden View categories become much more competitive because of their smaller inventories. Both dedicated and lock-off villas remain available at seven months in the larger view categories, although availability declines quickly inside that window.
3-Bedroom Grand Villas
Grand Villa availability depends heavily on view category. The 18 Ocean View Grand Villas maintain surprisingly good availability throughout the summer, with members often finding several consecutive nights available at the seven-month window. In contrast, the two Standard View Grand Villas are among the rarest accommodations at Aulani and are exceptionally difficult to reserve without home resort priority.
DVC Field Guide has captured booking patterns for every DVC resort/accommodation over the last 7 years. Understanding the booking patterns of Disney Vacation Club resorts can be a powerful tool when planning future stays. By knowing which resorts, room types, and travel dates tend to book first—and when availability is most likely to open up—members can make more informed, strategic reservation decisions. This insight helps guide when to book, whether to rely on the 11-month home resort window or the 7-month window, how to choose backup options, and how to maximize flexibility with room types and travel dates. Using booking patterns thoughtfully can reduce stress, improve availability outcomes, and ultimately lead to more successful and satisfying DVC vacations.
The tables below illustrate the average number of consecutive days available for booking a designated accommodation over a week, based on data collected over the past seven years. These availability figures align with what is displayed when searching for a unit on the DVC website. To make the data easily interpretable, a traditional red-and-green light format is used: green indicates the highest availability, while any number below 7 indicates limited availability and signals caution. A total of seven means that every day of the week is available for booking.
