Owner’s Locker…What is it and will it save me money?

Owner’s Locker is a third-party service whereby DVC guests can store items between visits to Orlando. The articles are packed in a nice container, kept in a safe place off-site, and are delivered to your resort whenever you want them. Guests typically utilize the service to have Disney-only items, kitchen goods, and small appliances that the DVC Villa doesn’t have. These items can make your DVC stay better, but they may be inconvenient or too large to carry back and forth each visit. Some other examples are detailed below.

How Does Owner’s Locker Work?

Members can sign up on the Owner’s Locker website, ownerslocker.com. Through your dashboard, you select the resort and time of your stay, and your container (Locker) will be waiting for you at bell services when you arrive. When you are ready to leave Orlando, simply pack the box with items that you want to have for your next visit, and Owner’s Locker will pick it up from bell services and store it off-site in a climate-controlled environment. Guests then use the dashboard to let Owner’s Locker know when you are returning and where you need the container delivered. The dashboard also gives owners the ability to list out what is in their Locker if you forget what you put in it.

Guests may purchase additional containers if needed. In addition to the boxes, Owner’s Lockers also provide golf club storage.

The locations that Owner’s Locker delivers to are not only for DVC Villas. The website list the resorts and places where the lockers can be provided.

Locker Cost

Guests can choose three different plans. The cost is based on how frequently the Locker is delivered and picked up. A $75 membership charge includes the initial delivery and pickup. After that, then annual plans are:

Value plan. The plan costs $8.50/month or $85 if paid annually and includes storage at the climate-controlled warehouse, but guests are charged for every round-trip delivery/pickup of your Locker. The cost is $27.50 for the first Locker and $13.75 for additional lockers.

Moderate Plan. This plan is similar to the value choice but includes one free round-trip delivery/pickup. The initial cost is $10.50/month or $105 annually. As with the Value plan, each additional round trip is $27.50 for the first Locker and $13.75 for additional ones.

Deluxe Plan. The $19/month or $190 if paid annually. This plan includes unlimited free round-trip visits per year.

DVC Discount. Owner’s Locker is currently offering a DVC discount for owners who choose the moderate plan. The discount provides the first six months of service complimentary and the last six months at half price or $5.25/month. Members also receive free round-trip deliveries in year one.

Locker Size

The lockers are heavy-duty containers made of industrial-strength plastic with a lifetime warranty. The containers weigh 8 pounds empty, and there is no weight limit on what can be put in them. The size measures 22 inches long x 20 inches wide x 13 inches tall. The capacity is 2.60 cubic feet.

The lockers come with dividers that can be customized at the bottom of your Locker to help keep items from falling over. It also contains a ten-compartment plastic organizer tray that measures 9” x 12” for smaller items.

Items You May Want To Put In It

DVC members typically use the service to store items that are simply too big to carry back, things that provide some conveniences of home that the DVC resorts simply don’t have, or items frequently used at the park. Here are some examples that guests are keeping in their lockers.

• Kitchen supplies-coffee filters, paper plates, bowls, disposable cups, salt and pepper shakers, corkscrew, coffee filters, water filters, plastic bags, foil, specific utensils, dishes, glasses, ice cube trays.

• Small Kitchen Appliances-Keurig, crockpot. Small grills.

• Food and Drinks-Especially for frequent users, this can be valuable to put in leftover water, soft drinks, alcohol, and food that can be used and not wasted.

• Laundry supplies-Soap, dryer sheets, fabric softener, starch

• Toiletries- Soap, shampoo, body wash, mouthwash, toothpaste

• Sleeping items-Air mattress and inflater, pillows, extra sheets, blankets

• Disney specific items-mouse ears, raincoats, autograph books, umbrellas, water bottles, lanyards.

• Miscellaneous items-Scissors, batteries, diapers, sunscreen, over-the-counter drugs, phone chargers, safety pins, nail clippers, sewing kit, extension cords, first aid supplies, board games, holiday decorations.

• Clothing-Park shirts, shorts, swimming apparel.

Does It Make Sense For You?

Although some savings will offset this cost, the service’s convenience drives most members to rent a locker. Many owners love having some of the items they have at home available to make their DVC stay even better.

There are some savings that members will use to offset the Owner’s Locker cost:

• Owners will have to check fewer bags at the airport. Members may require additional luggage to bring some items from home. Storage of the items in an Owner’s Locker will reduce the need to bring some things from home.

• Owners have access to large kitchen appliances such as crockpots that may allow for more meals to be prepared in the room.

• Owners can buy items such as detergents and sunscreen used every time but can’t use it all at one visit.

• Owners can utilize the Locker to store leftover water, liquor, and non-perishables to save for the next trip.
